Yvette Bert was sentenced Nov. 6 by the criminal court of Arras to six months suspended sentence and ordered to pay nearly 120,000 euros to the tax authorities for 169 lotteries organized in little more than four years without including paid taxes on revenue.

The septuagenarian, who had appealed the judgment, was convicted of organizing prohibited lotteries abuse trust and tax offenses. His lawyer had assured the press that his client, whose income amounted to 650 euros per month, could not pay.



She “wanted to die”

At the hearing on September 25, Yvette Bert had assured that she had never taken money for it, all proceeds being donated to the bingo charities or people in need.
