Twelve departments orange alert for snow and ice – The World

Thousands of vehicles were stranded in the night from Saturday to Sunday in Savoy because of bad weather.

This is the Franche-Comté region and the departments of Ain (01), Côte-d’Or (21), Isère (38) Haute-Marne (52), Bas-Rhin (67), Savoie (73), Haute-Savoie (74) and Vosges (88). According to Meteo France, the situation should gradually come to an end on Sunday.

At 6:00 on Sunday, disruptions and delays were still reported by Traffic monitoring. Traffic in the Rhône-Alpes region still presented significant challenges to the ski resorts. By decree, the prefecture of Savoie decided to turn back to Chambéry North tolling to vehicles from Lyon or Annecy to Savoyard resorts.

The interior minister Bernard Cazeneuve and the Secretary of State for Transport Alain Vidal welcomed in a statement “composure and sense of responsibility” motorists renewing “calls for great caution” . They also paid tribute to the mobilized personnel.
